Leaders of surrounding communities to Federal University of Latia (FULafia) have paid sallah homage to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, in his office, recently.
The leaders, who described the vice-chancellor as an exemplary leader, said that members of the communities deemed it necessary to identify with him on the special occasion of Eid el-Fitr Sallah celebrations.
Speaking on behalf of other communities' leaders, Alhaji Sarki Dahiru Muhammad, the village head of Gandu, said, they also used the occasion of the visit to thank Abdul Rahman for the numerous gestures he has extended to the communities.
He described the vice-chancellor as a trustworthy, honest, kind, generous and fair-minded administrator whose leadership has impacted positively on the University and beyond.
He said that "Abdul Rahman is someone who is passionate about the welfare of not only his staff and students but also the welfare of people in the immediate communities hosting the University."
He assured the vice-chancellor and the University of their continued prayers and support for peace and progress of the institution.
In his response, the vice-chancellor thanked the leaders for recognising and visiting him and members of his Management team during the festive season.
He, specifically, thanked them for maintaining and promoting the cordial relationship that exist between their communities and the University.
The vice-chancellor called on them to join hands with the University to sustain peace and security in their various domains, especially within the two campuses of the University.
The vice-chancellor assured them that the University would continue to give priority to qualified members of their communities in the areas of admission and employment whenever the opportunities come.
