Following the recent controversy which has followed the request for WAEC result as a requirement for registration at orientation camps, the NYSC has come out to dispel any confusion.

Responding to the uproar following the  reported request for WAEC results before enlistment, the NYSC expressed its position in an statement obtained by Myschoolnews.

The statement read in part:

For the avoidance  of uncertainty, the prerequisites for enlistment of PCMs at the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps cross country are the following:

a.Institution's identity card;

b. statement of Result/Degree Certificate;

c. call-up Letter; and

d. COVID-19 clearance

In any case, WAEC Result might be requested by NYSC Officers to discover the date of birth of a Prospective Corps Member with doubtful appearance, as NECO Certificate doesn't have the inscription of age of the candidate.

In any case, there are different choices, for example, Voter's Card, Driver's License, National Identity Card which can be introduced in place of WAEC Result.

We are passionate about issues trelating to every prospective corps members and will do everything within our guidelines to make their registration peaceful.

Thus, the write-up making the rounds on the social media is a figment of the writer's imagination and should be discarded.
