Auchi Polytechnic Auchi Rector, Dress Code Committee Move to Discourage Indecent Dressing on Campus And Encourage Decency In Dress Code And The Overall Appearance Of Staff And Students Of The Institution.

The Committee move to discourage indecent dressing on campus was Led by Barr. (Mrs) Rehimetu Jimoh, members of Auchi Polytechnic Dress Code Committee have gotten full support of Dr. S.S. Umar, Rector of the Polytechnic to ensure that indecent dressing on campus becomes a thing of the past.

This was during a meeting held with the Chief Executive Officer of the Institution held on Thursday, 30th of March.

The Chairperson of the committee stated that it was important to have the meeting owing to the need to encourage decency in dress code and the overall appearance of staff and students of the Institution -noting that how decent the students and staff appear will to a large extent curb adverse effects that come with indecency and rightly place the tertiary institution of learning in the minds of sane people of society.

Publics of the Institution by the rules of the Dress Code Committee are expected to be modestly and respectably dressed without any form of exposure of sensitive parts while sagging trousers, torn(rugged) jeans, clothes with obscene graphics/pictures, clothing and clothing accessories that promote cultism/gangsterism are outlawed.

Tight fitting dresses, colouring/tinting of the hair, exposure/display of tattoos, platting/braiding of the hair by males, wearing of face caps/berets/bandanas are now being frowned at as modes of dressing as management kick against such.

Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar noted that while restoring dress code sanity on campus, care must be taken to ensure that students are not given sanctions that may hurt their academics unjustly. He stated that sending the child who is not well dressed home to change is preferred but adopted the option of Filling a Defaulter Form -for those who have been acousted more than once with a view to ensuring that the student (who has deliberately erred more than once) faces the Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC) where final verdict can be taken.

Barr. Rehimetu Jimoh who doubles as the Director of Centre for Gender Studies, thanked the rector for his support and seized the opportunity to officially present the uniform of the committee to the Rector for Commissioning.

Top magement staff (admin and academics), the Director of SERVICOM, Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic, the Registrar, Deputy Rectors (Admin and Academics) all of who agreed to charting a new way forward in ensuring that both staff and students dress decently to the premises of the Institution were in attendance.
