College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) ex- Dean Prof. Samuel Olusegun Awonorin honoured as a father in this University who contributed in education.

A one-time Dean of the College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), Prof. Samuel Olusegun Awonorin has been described as a father in this University who contributed immensely to the development of the College and the University at large 

Speaking at a colloquium held in honor of the late Professor at the Post Graduate School Auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Kola Adebayo said the foundation the Late Prof. Awonorin left behind is a legacy that has outlived him.

In the same vein, the Dean, College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), Prof. Wasiu Afolabi in his Welcome Address described Prof. Awonorin as a great man, adding that there is nothing done for him that will be too much to remember his good work.

Prof. Afolabi described Late Prof. Awonorin as a renowned Professor of Food Engineering, who is exemplary and worthy emulation.

Prof. Afolabi said the late Prof. Awonorin was a man of no small mean, endless possibilities and who will never be forgotten in the history of the University Community.

The Colloquium peaked with a Lecture titled "Cold Chain Technology and Reduction of Post Harvest Losses in Nigeria" delivered by the President, Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa (OTACCWA), Engr. Alexander Isong.

He said an unbroken cold chain is an uninterrupted series of refrigerated production, storage, and distribution activities along with associated equipment and logistics which maintain a desired low temperature range.

Tributes were given by professional colleagues while an endowment fund was also raised in his honour.
