Organiser of the annual culinary competition ‘TableFor4’ Chef Norris R. David, is up with a student culinary challenge in the search for Covenant University Campus Master Chef, during a presentation to the University management. Chef Norris said as Nigeria will be hosting the 2023 West Africa Food Festival (WAFFEST), it is his desire to help students with a passion for cooking turn that skill into a profession.

According to him, the competition will be supported by the Association of Professional Chef Nigeria (APCN),  with the hope that interested students will be empowered with preparatory courses, grant access to explore work study as student chefs in the school's guesthouse, endowed students with new skills, with discounted opportunities availed to both students and staffs who would like to enter for a full culinary art skill course with one of the Culinary School partners, and also see to a full culinary art skill course classes can be established on campus for both students and staffs.

Chef Norris said the Tablefo4 Events will champion the publicity drive of the event once approval is given, create the registration link for interested students to sign up, and create the platform to attract other executive chefs throughout the process to enable the great transfer of knowledge.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said while the university is always enthused to see her students engaged in extra-curricular activities tailored towards self-development, there will be a need for the organisers to interact with the University’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies (CEDS) towards making the competition achieve its desired goals of building capacity.

He assured the team that the University Management will give the proposal a second look, and see the evolvement of a Memorandum of Understanding for a seamless event that will avail the students of the best that there is to offer in the skills and art of cooking.

The meeting had in attendance, the Acting Registrar, Mrs Regina Tobi-David; Director, Financial Services, Pastor Olugbenga Kiki; and the Sub-Dean, Students’ Affairs, Mr Gordons Adebayo.
