The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has commissioned the newly built Senate Chamber of the University.
The commissioning ceremony, which witnessed the unprecedented presence of the Senate members, took place shortly before the 67th Regular Meeting of Senate.
The new Senate Chamber is located at Permanent Site Campus of the University.
In his introductory remarks, Abdul Rahman stated that the newly constructed one-storey building Senate Chamber has, beneath it, some offices.
Abdul Rahman used the occasion to announce that other projects sponsored by TETFund and other stakeholders would soon be completed.
He said: “A new hostel sponsored by TETFund would be completed soon to accommodate more students and we are also working for the installation of solar energy and construction of new boreholes with the projects expected to be completed soon.”
He tasked the Senate members to, in the interest of the University, “always be ready for leadership position and avoid playing victims of circumstances or blame others for our mistakes.”
The highlight of the building’s commissioning ceremony was the unveiling of the musical group of the Directorate of Environment Safety whose members performed to the satisfaction of Abdul Rahman and everyone present.
The Directorate of Environment Safety is responsible for ensuring the safety, security and environmental management in the University.
The musical group would, henceforth, perform its activities in all major events organised by the University.
