Members of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso community and well-wishers - as well as those who follow up on happenings around the ever-dynamic Institution - will readily agree that honor and laurels are not strangers in its lucid profile.
As the Oyo State-owned University keeps winning corporate awards, so are its staffers and students proving their own among their peers.
Apart from the rude, unfortunate blot brought about by the painful and highly devastating issue of students' death of last Wednesday, the last two weeks have brought cheery accounts of jewels being added to our crown.
This morning again, in far away Abuja, the ebullient University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Aduke Aboyade, is being bestowed with an honor, which naturally rubs off on the best State University in the country.
A letter from the Nigerian Library Association, dated 17th July, 2023 and signed by President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Library Association, Pastor Dominic Omokaro, had hinted that she was being recognized for her "sterling qualities as a Librarian and her contributions to the growth of Library and Information Science (LIS) profession in Nigeria, Regionally and Globally".
She was recommended by the Council of the Nigerian Library Association for the award of Fellow of the Nigerian Library Association (FNLA) which was graciously approved at the 61st Annual General Meeting held in Akure on Wednesday 5th July. 2023.
Accordingly, the award being invested today, September 30, 2023, is "premised on the condition that you shall continue to support the activities of the Association at the Chapter and National levels respectively as a leader in the service of the Association.
"You shall promote the ideals, ethics, and values of the profession at all times."
