The uniqueness and ingenuity of interns and graduates of Covenant University have not gone unnoticed by industry players and businesses. The Deputy Director, Human Resources of Huawei Technologies, Adebayo Akinsulie, said over the years, the management of Huawei has seen the ability of Covenant University to groom and nurture talents, who have ended up contributing significantly to the resources pool of Huawei as an organisation.
Mr. Akinsulie, who led the leadership of the Human Resources Directorate of Huawei Technologies on a courtesy visit to Covenant, said the visit was to avail them of opportunities to engage directly with the students and share with them the career prospects of working with Huawei.
He said that having experienced the quality associated with Covenant University products, both at the level of internship and graduate trainee programmes, it has become imperative to visit the sources of academic training and interact with them.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said Covenant University is mindful of its founding vision, mission, and philosophy as a university and is thus very intentional in evolving an academic curriculum that will position her students ahead of their contemporaries from other institutions.
Professor Adebayo noted that the intention of the Board of Regents of the University is always to develop a robust learning environment that will make students and graduates of Covenant ready for deployment in the workplace.
He called for a deeper partnership between Huawei and Covenant towards creating a platform for proffering mutually beneficial solutions and kick-starting joint research-based endeavours that will help advance industrial and academic rapport.
After meeting with the University management, the team had a parley with final-year students and those scheduled for internships, where they were inundated with opportunities, career prospects, and pathways to becoming a member of the Huawei family in Nigeria.
