ICAN Pays Courtesy Call On UNILAG Vice-Chancellor

ICAN pays courtesy call on UNILAG VC for the re-accreditation of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences.

A delegation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS on Monday, September 11, 2023.

The team led by the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, FCA arrived the University, over the weekend, for the re-accreditation of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences.

Prof. Asaolu, after applauding the University for the hospitality accorded the team since its arrival, assured the university of ICAN’s best intentions. He stated that the visit was to evaluate the implementation of resolutions made at the Institute’s last accreditation visit. He also seized the opportunity to reel out some of the ways the Institute supports universities across the country. According to him, these include supporting every Accounting professor who delivers his/her inaugural lecture with a sum of N1,000,000 (one million naira); supporting postgraduate students with a grant of N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira) for writing successful proposals; supporting students’ annual week events with a sum of N100,000 (one hundred thousand naira); awarding scholarships to first-class graduates of Accounting, among others.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the team and assured them of the total cooperation of the Department and Faculty. She encouraged the Department of Accounting to avail itself the opportunity provided by the Institute.

Also, on hand to receive the team were the University Librarian, Prof. Yetunde Zaid; Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde; Director, Academic Planning, Prof. Olusoji Ilori; Director, Quality Assurance and SERVICOM, Prof. Olufemi Saibu; Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. A. A. Sulaiman; Head, Department of Accounting, Prof. Olatunde Otusanya and Drs. Iredele & Mohammed Ajape of the Department of Accounting.
