JAMB Subject Combination for Adult and Continuing Education

During JAMB registration, you must choose the following subject combinations if your course is Adult and Continuing Education.

  1. Use of English.
  2. Government/History,
  3. one (1) Social Science subject e.g Economics
  4. and any other subject.

Special Considerations in JAMB Subject Combination for Adult and Continuing Education

(i) LAGOS accepts any three (3) of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Mathematics, any Nigerian Language, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies, Economics/Commerce.
(ii) RSUST accepts a pass in NCE General English and Basic Mathematics.
(iii) CALABAR same as in Education Arts or Social Sciences.
(iv) UNN requires:

For the three (3) professional Adult Education options candidates seeking entry into the four (4)-year degree programme must take English Language and any other three (3) subjects in Arts and Sciences as their choice.
For those combining Adult Education with English Language, their UTME subjects must include English Language, Literature in English and any other Arts subject.

For other combinations, English Language plus any other Arts or Science subjects related to ones choice of combination.

BENIN:

For Adult Education Professional, it requires any three (3) subjects chosen from Arts or Social Sciences.
For Adult Education Economics and Statistics, it requires Economics, Mathematics and one (1) other Arts or Social Science subject.
For Adult Education, English and Literature requires Literature in English, one (1) Arts subject and any other subject.
For Adult Education, Geography and Regional Planning requires Geography, one (1) Social Science subject and any other subject.
For Adult Education, Political Science and Public Administration requires Government or History, one (1) Social Science Subject and any other subject.

TASUED accepts any three (3) subjects.

O’Level Requirements for Adult and Continuing Education

Five (5) O level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and three (3) of Literature in English, History, French, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Geography/Physic, Economics andGovernment or TC II with pass in English Language and four (4) other subjects.

Special Considerations in O’Level Requirements for Adult and Continuing Education

(i) ESUTECH does not insist on Mathematics.
(ii) RSUST accepts a pass in NCE General English and Basic Mathematics.
(iii) EBSU – O level credit pass is required for all Science based combinations while O level pass is required for Social Sciences.
(iv) IBADAN requires five (5) O level credit passes at one (1) sitting to include English Language.
(v) PHC requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, the teaching subject and any other three (3) subjects.
(vi) LAGOS requires five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) of Literature in English, History/Government, Geography, Economics/Commerce, any Nigerian Language, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies, French, Civic Education/Social Studies and Business Studies.
(vii) CALABAR requires O level credit pass in English Language and O level pass in Mathematics.
(viii) UNN requires as follows

Candidates seeking entry into the four (4)-year degree programme must satisfy the University s requirements which stipulates five (5) O level credit passes in English Language and a Science subject in addition to any three (3) other relevant subjects.
Candidates seeking entry into any of the six (6) specialized areas of the combination in the Arts and Social Sciences must meet the University s requirements in addition to the requirements of the department into which they are seeking admission.

AAUA requires O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other relevant subjects.
TASUED requires five (5) O level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) O level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language and other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences. O level pass in Mathematics is also required.

Direct Entry Requirements for Adult and Continuing Education

(i) Two (2) A level passes.
(ii) NCE merit in two (2) subjects.

Special considerations in Direct Entry Requirements for Adult and Continuing Education

(i) PHC – No Direct Entry
(ii) IBADAN does not accept TC II after 1981. It also requires O level credit pass in Mathematics for all Science based combinations and Economics while O level pass in Mathematics is required for Social Sciences.
(iii) UNN accepts:
(a) candidates who pass at the A level or at the principal level in the HSC in two (2) subjects including that to be combined with Adult Education.
(b) Candidates with ND at Distinction, credit, or merit levels in other disciplines not related to Adult Education who pass UNNs requirements plus O level credit pass in any related Science or Arts subjects for Direct Entry four (4) year programme.
(iv) BENIN accepts A level passes in relevant Arts and Social Science subjects plus three (3) O level passes including English Language at one (1) sitting.
(v) MAIDUGURI accepts ND/HND credit.
(vi) LAGOS accepts:

NCE merit/credit in English Language, History, French, Geography, Mathematics, Igbo/Yoruba, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies, Economics, Government, Business Education and Accounting Education.
Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects: Literature in English, Economics, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies, Government, History, Igbo/Yoruba, Geography, Mathematics and French.
A level passes in two (2) of English Language, History, French, Geography, Mathematics, Igbo/Yoruba, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies, Economics, Government.
Candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements.

(vii) BENIN requires:

Two (2) or three (3) NCE merit plus three (3) or two (2) O level credit passes including English Language at one (1) sitting.

(b) ND upper credit plus three (3) O level credit passes including English Language at one (1) sitting.
(viii) NDU Same as Vocational and Technical Education.
(ix) TASUED requires two (2) A level passes/HSC, NCE merit in relevant teaching subjects or ND/HND upper credit.
