Prof. Olatunji-Bellowas ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor at LASU Sandwich Degree Matriculation and Orientation Programme with also Five resource persons to lecture the students. 

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, has stated that the Lagos State University is a student-centered University and a place for grooming generational leaders.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Olufunso Omobitan, made this known while delivering her speech at the Matriculation and Orientation Programme organised for the 2022 Modular Year Sandwich Degree Programme on Friday, 26th May 2023 at Buba Marwa Main Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The VC averred that “…our objective at the Lagos State University is to produce graduates who will be catalysts to the process of transformation of the State to a Greater Lagos”.

Speaking further, the Professor of Physiology said “….your welfare is top on our priority and we will ensure that the academic and learning environment is conducive. We have put in place adequate security measures and facilities such as lecture theatres, laboratories, sports and recreational facilities. We also have resourceful academic and non-academic staff that are willing to assist you to become the best in your chosen careers”.

She advised the students to embrace self-discipline and avail themselves of all the opportunities that the University provides for them to succeed. 

The Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Solomon Makinde while delivering his address at the orientation programme earlier in the day said that Lagos State University is committed to providing excellent education to all students and is focused on academic excellence as well as creating a safe learning environment for its students. 

He added that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, is highly committed to ensuring that every student is well equipped to achieve his/her goals.

The Director, Sandwich Degree Programme, Prof. John Adeogun, in his remarks asserted that the Sandwich Degree Programme is one of the best in the country and assured the students that there is no disparity between the certificates issued to sandwich degree students and regular students of the University.

He also added that the Directorate is readily available to assist the students in achieving laudable feats in their academic pursuit.

Five resource persons were at the orientation programme to lecture the students on different topics namely; Dr. Igot Ofem (Acting Director, Centre for Response and Prevention of Sexual and Gender Based Violence); Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko (Dean, Students’ Affairs); Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin

(Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) represented by Dr. Rilwan Mustapha (Assistant Director, DICT); Dr. Segun Olawumi (Director, Sports Centre) and CSP. Oluwole Ojo (Rtd.) (Chief Security Officer) represented by Mr. Azeez Edu (Officer in Charge, Security Intelligence, Investigation & Enforcement Unit).

The Deputy Registrar, Sandwich Degree Programme, Mrs. Bukola Arojojoye, gave the vote of thanks.

The matriculation and orientation ceremony had in attendance members of the University Management, members of staff, students, parents and guardians.
