LASU Trains members of management on Public Speaking And Etiquette to further polish their elocution, poise, public image, and charisma.

Determined to further polish their elocution, poise, public image, and charisma, Lagos State University authority, on Friday, 29th September 2023, organized a one-day Workshop on Public Speaking and Etiquette for members of the University Management and Deans.

The Workshop, which took place at the Providence Hotel, Lagos Island, proved to be an enriching experience for members of the extended management under the tutelage of renowned experts in the fields of public speaking and etiquette, Adesuwa Onyenokwe and Mavi Isibor.

While declaring the Workshop open, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, said the workshop was aimed at empowering the participants with the right skills that would enable them to represent the university in the best way possible.

She said, "I have gone through some training and workshops that have greatly helped me, and I thought we have similar training for our members of the extended management who are the face of the university. The onus lies on us to learn as much as possible from the respected speakers that we are bringing."

Veteran journalist and editor of Today's Woman Magazine, Adesuwa Onyenokwe engaged the participants with rules guiding public speaking and tips to become better communicators ahead of the second speaker, Mavi Isibor, an etiquette icon, administrator, and CEO Poise Nigeria, who mesmerized the university's functionaries about dining etiquette, physical appearance and poise.

To lend weight to the training, participants were given certificates of participation at the end of the full-day training, which was put together by the Vice Chancellor's Committee on Training, led by Director ICT, Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin and Acting Director, Special Interventions, Dr. Taiwo Oseni Afisi.

Recall that some members of staff of the university were also recently trained in the art of speech writing and PowerPoint presentation.
