The maiden edition of the Annual Tech Week '23 at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was a resounding success, featuring various exhibitions, speakers, panel sessions, and opportunities for students.

The event showcased innovative and cutting-edge tech startups created by students, providing them with a platform to display their projects and ideas. This exhibition allowed the participants to gain visibility, network with industry professionals, and receive feedback on their work.

The Tech Week also presented several opportunities for OAU students. Chams, a sponsoring organization, offered 1000 laptops...

The best five exhibition teams were recognized for their exceptional work and awarded one hundred thousand naira each by the chairman of the summit, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi.

New Horizons, Nigeria headed by Mr Tim Akano who is also the keynote speaker contributed significantly to the event by offering a generous scholarship worth one hundred and fifty million naira. This scholarship provided training in Robotics and Drone Technology for 1000 students, thereby equipping them with valuable skills in emerging technologies. Additionally, a donation of 1000 ICT books was received, aiming to bridge the digital divide and enhance educational outcomes for students.

The MyTechDev Foundation pledged to train 250 OAU undergraduates on MongoDB, a popular database management system. The foundation covered the training and certification costs for each student, amounting to 500 dollars per individual. This initiative aimed to empower students with practical skills in database management, increasing their employability and professional prospects.

During the event, the maiden edition of the TECH Magazine was launched.

The success of the Tech Week '23 was made possible by the collective effort of volunteers, philanthropists, brands and institutions (Ovation, Chams, Moni, Kegow, New Horizons, Zenith Bank, Casting Crown Co, The Nest and others) who sponsored and contributed their time, effort, and resources..."
