Polish WSB University head of international office meets management to strengthen collaboration with the Lagos state university (LASU). 

Head of International Office of Polish foremost private University, WSB University, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, Dr. Pawel Urgacz, was, on Monday, 3rd July 2023, at the university main campus, Ojo, to hold talks with the leadership of the university in a bid to strengthen existing relationship between the two institutions.

According to Dr. Urgacz, the visit is aimed at expanding existing partnership between LASU and WSB to include staff exchange, research publication in high-impact journal and digitisation, amongst others. He cited the example of a  student of LASU who is currently running a programme at the WSB through the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. 

While making his presentation, Dr. Urgacz expressed his delight at the warm reception he had received in the university noting that "I am inspired by the interactions I have had since getting to the campus. You have a vibrant community of staff and students.....I am convinced that LASU is indeed the right university to partner in Nigeria. "

Director, Directorate of Linkages, Partnerships and Collaboration, Prof. Kabir Akinyemi, who attended the meeting as one of the key stakeholders in the partnership, urged the WSB to go beyond highlighted opportunities by helping to attract grants to the university. He expressed his confidence that the collaboration would be mutually beneficial.

In her response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, expressed willingness to take the partnership to the next level in furtherance to the university's internationalisation drive. She further noted that the two institutions have several areas of common interest which would make the partnership stronger and invited the polish institution to the 5th LASU Research Fair coming up later in September, this year. 

The meeting, which took place at the Vice Chancellor's Conference Room, had in attendance other members of the University Management as well as other senior officials of the instutution.
