Sahara Energy Seeks Partnership With UNILAG

Sahara Energy seeks partnership with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on talent discovery and development.

The need to identify budding talents in Nigeria’s ivory towers, and channel their creative and intellectual energies to meet the growing needs of the industry formed the crux of deliberations when senior officers of Sahara Energy Group held a meeting with authorities of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Friday, June 23, 2023.

Led by the Group Head of Human Resources, Mrs. Ivie Imasogie Adigun, the Sahara Energy Group contingent highlighted their company’s Milk Round Programme, a talent discovery and development initiative which aims to facilitate the transition of bright students from campus to industry, ready-made and capable to deliver.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, at the meeting. She commended the Group’s interest in the UNILAG as evident by the conglomerate’s financed projects in the institution including the School of Innovation and Extrapreneurship (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAKVsvX6Ue4 and https://unilag.edu.ng/?p=18950).

While expressing confidence in the ability of UNILAG students to tick all the necessary boxes required of participants in the proposed programme, the Deputy Vice Chancellor declared the readiness of the university to make the most of the opportunity.

“We are grateful that Sahara Energy continues to regard us a viable partner. We are also confident that you will find in our students willing minds who will tick all the boxes of requirements that you will make of them. While we thank you for these student-focused opportunities, we also ask that you consider same for our faculty, so that the benefits of town-gown interactions like this can quickly translate into the classrooms”.

Three alumni of the University of Lagos, who are in the employ of the Sahara Energy group, were also in the team. They expressed appreciation for the sound training they received at the university, and used the opportunity to give feedbacks on areas of possible improvement. They are Ms. Praise Mbanali, Mr. Aralola Araoye, and Ms. Suzanne Ebnang.
