The President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Comrade Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki, has clarified matters concerning the recent NELFUND disbursement for Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Comrade Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki, has clarified matters concerning the recent NELFUND disbursement for Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to the SRC President, the University Management has received the disbursed funds, as indicated on the NELFUND portal, but is currently reconciling the payments to prevent overpayments or underpayments. Students whose dashboards show “Disbursed” but who have not personally paid their school fees are advised not to make any payments themselves. They should wait for the University to complete its verification process.
“Students who have not paid school fees and whose dashboards show ‘Disbursed’ should not pay the fees themselves. The school is sorting out the payments so their portals will reflect paid status,” President Saraki stated.

He further explained that the University cannot immediately mark students as “paid” upon receipt of funds, as a thorough cross-check must be conducted to ensure accuracy with the number of beneficiaries. Students are reassured that the registration deadline will be met and urged not to panic while the reconciliation is completed.
In addition, President Saraki confirmed that January upkeep payments to beneficiaries have begun. Some students have already received their payments in their bank accounts as of Wednesday, 17th February 2026, while others are expected to receive theirs shortly.
The SRC President reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to protecting student interests and welfare at Ahmadu Bello University.
