Yobe Govt Commences Disbursement of Scholarship Allowances to Students in Bauchi

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board (YSSB), Alhaji Shu’aibu Muhammad Guza, has led a delegation of the Board’s management and staff to Bauchi State for the commencement of disbursement of scholarship allowances to Yobe State indigenes studying in tertiary institutions.

The delegation visited Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, where they were received by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor S. Y. Usman, alongside the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and the Student Affairs Officer.

Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Guza expressed appreciation to the Dean for the warm reception accorded to him and his delegation.

He explained that the visit was part of the ongoing exercise for the disbursement of scholarship allowances to Yobe State indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across the country.

According to him, the exercise is in line with the commitment of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to ensuring that every eligible student from Yobe State has access to education and receives the necessary support to pursue their studies.

In his response, Professor Usman welcomed the delegation and commended Governor Buni for his continued commitment to education development, describing the scholarship initiative as a significant gesture of support to students.

He also commended the Executive Secretary for his dedication to duty, particularly his efforts to personally lead his team to institutions across the country to ensure that Yobe State students receive the support provided by the government.

The Executive Secretary subsequently inspected the ongoing construction of the NUYOSS office and apartment for the local chapter at ATBU, accompanied by the Dean of Student Affairs.

During the inspection, Alhaji Guza commended the students’ union for its efforts toward strengthening the association and encouraged them to remain united, committed and focused on promoting the interests and welfare of Yobe State students, in the spirit of “Aluta Continua.”

The Board disclosed that other tertiary institutions in Bauchi, Jos, Gombe, Adamawa and Jigawa will follow immediately as the exercise continues.
