Admiralty University of Nigeria Management Commended for Massive Infrastructure Development

The Director General of the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Udofia (Rtd.), has commended the management of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) for the massive infrastructure development taking place across the institution.

Rear Admiral Udofia described the ongoing transformation at the university as remarkable and highly commendable during an official collaboration and partnership visit to ADUN in Ibusa, Delta State.

He attributed the significant developmental strides recorded by the university to the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Ogbogbo, whom he described as an agent of development with much to offer the institution.

According to him, Professor Ogbogbo had achieved significant transformation within one year and a few months in office, while the cooperation and support of the university’s management team had also contributed to the progress recorded.

Rear Admiral Udofia explained that the purpose of the visit was to identify areas of collaboration and partnership between the two institutions.

He disclosed that both institutions had concluded plans to work together towards advancing the development of ADUN, particularly in areas connected to maritime education and the blue economy.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of ADUN, Professor Christopher Ogbogbo, appreciated the Director General and his team for the visit, describing the proposed partnership as timely.

Professor Ogbogbo said the collaboration would help address the university’s capacity-building needs in the blue economy and strengthen its position as a centre of academic excellence in the sector.

He noted that ADUN would benefit from practical knowledge, research opportunities and manpower development through the partnership. He added that manpower support could include the engagement of adjunct and visiting scholars and lecturers.

The Vice-Chancellor further disclosed that students of Nautical Architecture would visit the institute’s shipbuilding facilities in Lagos and Port Harcourt to gain practical experience beyond classroom instruction.

Professor Ogbogbo said his developmental drive was motivated by the desire to position ADUN on the global stage, while maintaining its relevance to Nigeria and the wider African maritime sector.

He expressed confidence that stronger institutional partnerships would contribute significantly to the university’s development and its ambition of becoming a globally competitive institution.
