Researchers at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), have achieved a significant milestone, winning competitive international research grants.
Grant Recipients and Awards:
- Prof. Monsuru Adeleke (Deputy Vice-Chancellor) – Awarded $197,689 through the Falcon Research Award by the Global Institute of Disease Elimination (GLIDE).
- Dr. Fatai Afolabi (Chemical and Physical Sciences) and Dr. Tawakalt Abolayo (Environmental Health) – Each received the Early Career Grant of £5,000 from the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH), marking the first time FUHSI staff have won this grant.

These achievements follow the establishment of a grant-writing mentoring team at FUHSI, led by Prof. Adeleke, aimed at building research capacity and facilitating access to international funding opportunities.
On behalf of the Council and Management, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.O. Lasisi congratulated the winners and applauded the FUHSI community for its growing research excellence.
