FUNAAB to Host 111th Inaugural Lecture: Prof. Adesodun to Speak on Soil Sustainability

The 111th Inaugural Lecture of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, would hold on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. 

The Chairperson, Ceremonials Committee, Prof. Temitope Ajadi, and the Inaugural Lecturer, Prof. Johnson Adesodun disclosed this while featuring on FUNAAB Radio 89.5FM live interactive programme, Boiling Point.

The lecture titled: 'Sustainable Society with Quality Soil Physical Environment as Siamese Twins', would take place at the Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building of the University, beginning from 2pm, under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Kehinde. 

A Professor of Soil Physics, Adesodun from the Department of Soil Science and Land Management, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT)of FUNAAB, stated that soil physics "is the application of principle of physics to soil," saying "without quality soil, human being cannot survive".

The don, with expertise in soil sustainability and nutrient management, said that some of the challenges facing soil include erosion and reckless dumping of pollutants, charging farmers and citizens in general to imbibe the habit of proper management of the soil. 

On her part, the CERECOM Chairperson assured that arrangements for the lecture are in top gear, noting that all hands are on deck in order to have a successful outing, urging everyone to attend the lecture.
