FUTA Confirms MBBS Programme Fully Operational Amid 2026/2027 Admission Pause
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has reaffirmed that its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme remains fully operational and has not been suspended or discontinued in any form.

The temporary suspension of admissions for the 2026/2027 Academic Session is a one-time measure intended to ensure a seamless academic calendar and facilitate uninterrupted clinical training for current students.
The University dismissed reports suggesting the discontinuation of the programme as false and misleading, stressing that the MBBS programme continues to function as planned. The FUTA College of Health Sciences is collaborating closely with the FUTA Teaching Hospital to guarantee smooth clinical training for students currently enrolled in the programme.
FUTA expressed gratitude to key stakeholders who contributed to the establishment and development of the FUTA Teaching Hospital, a critical facility for medical education. Among those acknowledged were President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Ondo State government under Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Minister of Health Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, the Deji of Akure Kingdom Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi (CFR), Elder statesman Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Ondo State, Dr. Banji Ajaka, and other members of the FUTA/Akure partnership.
The University reiterated its commitment to producing highly skilled medical professionals to support national development and the well-being of the populace.
