Gov. Sule Pledges Support for NSUK Expansion, Proposed Medical School and Engineering Programmes

The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Visitor to Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the University’s expansion and development plans.

The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Visitor to Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the University’s expansion and development plans.

Governor Sule stated this on Friday, October 2, 2026, when he received the Governing Council of NSUK at the Nasarawa State Government Lodge in Abuja.

The delegation, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, briefed the Visitor on key developments and issues affecting the University.

Among the issues presented to the Governor was the recently suspended industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), as well as the University’s ongoing efforts to consolidate academic activities following the suspension of the strike.

The Council also briefed Governor Sule on the recent National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Verification Exercise for the proposed establishment of a Medical School at NSUK and the introduction of additional Engineering programmes.

The proposed expansion is expected to broaden the University’s academic offerings and strengthen its capacity to provide highly skilled manpower in critical sectors, including medicine, healthcare and engineering.

The Council further presented updates on other developments within the University and its plans for sustained academic, infrastructural and institutional growth.

Responding, Governor Sule reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to the development of NSUK and pledged continued support to enable the University to achieve its aspirations.

The Visitor commended the efforts of the Governing Council and Management in advancing the University’s development agenda and expressed his readiness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the institution.

The meeting ended with the Governor assuring the University of continued partnership and support in its pursuit of academic excellence and institutional growth.
