In a statement issued by the institution, Vice-Chancellor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff, and students, conveyed the university community’s grief over the loss, describing it as a painful and deeply felt moment.
Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega passed away on April 4, 2026. She was described as a woman of virtue whose life and quiet influence left a lasting impression on those around her, particularly through her support for her husband’s leadership and service.

The university noted that her passing represents a significant personal loss to the Pro-Chancellor and his family, while also acknowledging the broader sense of loss within the academic community.
She was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery.
The institution offered prayers for the repose of her soul, asking for divine mercy, forgiveness, and eternal rest, while also praying for strength and comfort for the bereaved family in the aftermath of the loss.
