Prof. Eboh: UNIDEL Has Adopted Best Practices in Service Delivery

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, Prof. Eric Eboh, has declared that the institution has embraced best practices in service delivery, accountability and institutional management through the implementation of his RAISE UNIDEL strategy.

Prof. Eboh made the declaration on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, while delivering the University’s first “State of UNIDEL” address at the September edition of the UNIDEL Intercessory Prayer, held at the 1,000 Capacity Hall, Agbor campus.

In a striking departure from the conventional administrative address, the Vice-Chancellor rendered soul-lifting songs before taking the University community through an assessment of his administration’s achievements in its first four months, outlining what he described as a new trajectory of innovation, efficiency and institutional transformation.

The Vice-Chancellor said the progress recorded so far had been made possible by the cooperation, commitment and collective support of the University’s Management team and the entire UNIDEL community.

Among the major milestones highlighted were the appointment and reappointment of Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments; the development of Memoranda of Understanding and strategic agreements with key stakeholders, including diaspora organisations and networks; the internationalisation and digitalisation of the University; and significant improvements in its digital ecosystem.

He also listed the conduct of a seamless 2026 admission exercise, online registration and clearance of newly admitted students, as well as the launch of UNIDEL Multidisciplinary Research Groups, among the notable achievements of his administration.

He said the initiatives were designed not merely to modernise administrative processes, but to reposition UNIDEL as a university capable of responding effectively to the demands of a rapidly changing global academic environment. He disclosed that several other transformational projects were at advanced stages, including the launch of a new UNIDEL website, establishment of a digital studio and commencement of postgraduate programmes, which he said would soon become realities.

The Vice-Chancellor, however, warned that his administration would not tolerate practices capable of undermining the integrity of the university. He declared that sexual misconduct and financial impropriety would have no place under his watch, stressing that the pursuit of excellence must be matched by ethical conduct, transparency and responsibility. He maintained that institutional transformation could not be sustained without discipline and a culture of integrity.

Earlier, Dr. Mrs. M. Asabor delivered the exhortation at the intercessory prayer on the theme, “If God Be for Us, Who Can Be Against Us?”.

Drawing from Romans 8:31 and 37, Zechariah 2:5 and Psalm 91:1–16, she urged members of the University community to put God first in all their endeavours, describing God’s presence as the believer’s “secret place.”

According to her, challenges, disappointments and trials should not be allowed to defeat the faith and determination of members of the University community.

“In the midst of challenges, disappointments and trials, you are more than conquerors because God is ever ready to take care of us,” she said.

In her closing remarks, the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Esther Akpojuvie, commended Prof. Eboh for what she described as his visionary leadership, and expressed appreciation to the principal officers for their loyalty, dedication and commitment to the advancement of the University. She also thanked the entire University community for its faithfulness, support and collaboration, stressing the importance of collective effort in sustaining the gains being recorded by the institution.

The programme featured an opening prayer by Pastor Gajere Danjuma, while the UNIDEL Band led the congregation in praise and worship. The intercessory prayers were conducted by Pastor Dr. Oji, while the closing prayer and benediction were offered by Rev. Fr. Dr. John Mordi.

Among the principal officers present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Ijeh; Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu; and University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Vera Okonoko, alongside a large representation of staff and members of the University community.
