UCH Ibadan Hosts AHRIMPN Lecture Week; CMD Tasks Practitioners on Digital Transformation
The Association of Health Records and Information Management Practitioners of Nigeria (AHRIMPN), University College Hospital (UCH), ibadan Chapter, held its Health Information professional (HIP) lecture on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the School of Health Information Management Hall.
In her opening speech, the Chairperson of the Association, Comrade Halimat Adedeji, said this year’s theme, "The Guardians of Health Information: Driving Healthcare Transformation Through Technology' strikes a chord at the very heart of the health information profession.
She noted that while Doctors, Nurses, and Allied health Professionals represent the visible face of healthcare, the health information profession has undergone a seismic shift from being mere custodians of paper records to becoming strategic leaders of transformation. She therefore urged practitioners not to remain stagnant but to continually acquire knowledge of innovative Health Information Management (HIM) technologies.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Prof. Adebukola Adesina, said healthcare systems across the world depend heavily on accurate, accessible, secure, and intelligent health information. “Without reliable data, clinical decisions become uncertain, policy direction becomes weak, and healthcare outcomes become compromised,” he said.

He added that Health Records Officers are not just record keepers but guardians of truth in healthcare delivery, occupying a unique and indispensable position within the healthcare system.
He further explained that Electronic Health Records (EHRs), telemedicine platforms, digital diagnostics, and integrated hospital information systems are reshaping the future of medicine. He encouraged members of the profession to remain committed to integrity, innovation, and professionalism as custodians of one of healthcare’s most valuable assets.
