Adamawa Governor Raises Corps Members’ State Allowance to ₦30,000

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state, raising it from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.

The announcement was made on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei LGA. 

“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members. This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” Governor Fintiri.

The governor emphasized his administration’s ongoing efforts to support youth development. He said the allowance increase complements broader welfare initiatives, including food aid and general wellbeing programs for corps members. 

Fintiri also disclosed that preparations are underway for the construction of a new NYSC orientation camp. He instructed the NYSC State Coordinator to involve corps members with expertise in architecture, civil engineering, and quantity surveying in overseeing the project, providing them with valuable field experience. 

Welcoming the new corps members, the governor acknowledged their crucial role in implementing state policies, especially in education. He urged them to remain disciplined, contribute to community development, and engage positively with their host communities. 

“As bonafide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and cultivate healthy interactions,” Governor Fintiri 

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youths and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Wali Yakubu, encouraged corps members to take the orientation program seriously, adhere to camp rules, and pursue skill acquisition for life after service. 

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, commended the corps members for their dedication and discipline, and praised Governor Fintiri as a “visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment in Nigeria.” The ceremony concluded with the administration of the oath of allegiance by Chief Judge Hapsat Abdurrahman, followed by the presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.
