Adeyemi College of Technology Holds Maiden Convocation

The Adeyemi College of Technology, Ondo, has held its maiden convocation ceremony on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education campus in Ondo City, Ondo State.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Governing Council of the College and Vice-Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, described the ceremony as historic and a landmark, noting that it was much more than the conferment of certificates but a celebration of knowledge, perseverance, discipline and service.

He underscored the importance of technological knowledge in contemporary society, stating that the world is changing rapidly and the future belongs to those who can adapt, innovate and continuously acquire new knowledge. He urged the graduates to distinguish themselves through practical skills, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship and to use their training to solve problems and advance national development.

Earlier, the Acting Rector, Adeyemi College of Technology, Dr. Kehinde Emmanuel Adenegan, commended the graduands for their courage, resilience and sacrifice. He described the College as a specialised institution established to provide practical skills and entrepreneurship training, reaffirming management's commitment to producing graduates who will not only seek jobs but create jobs.

Dr. Adenegan advised the graduates to remain good ambassadors of the institution and to see their certificates as a licence to serve and not the end of learning.

Delivering the convocation lecture titled From Classroom to Industry: Harnessing Technology and Innovation to Drive Nigeria's Industrial Transformation, Dr. Foluso Bamidele Falaye, Managing Director, CBC Emea Group of Companies, stressed the importance of technology in driving global trends and Nigeria's industrial transformation.

He lamented the high rate of graduate unemployment and called for greater emphasis on skills acquisition by both citizens and government. He advised parents to encourage their children to seek technology-oriented education that promotes self-reliance, and urged graduates not to wait for white-collar jobs but to embrace continuous learning to remain relevant in industry.

The highpoint of the ceremony was the conferment of National Diploma awards on eight students in Software Engineering and two in Hardware Engineering, while 56 others received certificates in various disciplines including multimedia technology, hardware engineering and maintenance, data analytics, software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, content creation and digital marketing.

Prizes were also presented to the best behaved graduating student and outstanding students in software engineering, artificial intelligence and technology.

Dignitaries present included the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Owolabi Adelami; principal officers of AFUED and ACT, traditional rulers, deans, directors, heads of directorates and units, religious leaders and other personalities.
