Admiralty University Commended for Massive Infrastructure Development as IMI Nigeria Seals Partnership Deal

The management of Admiralty University of Nigeria, ADUN, has received high commendation for what has been described as massive and remarkable infrastructure development on its Ibusa campus.

The Director General of the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria, IMI, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Udofia, Rtd., gave the commendation during an official collaboration and partnership visit to the university. 

Rear Admiral Udofia described the transformation witnessed at ADUN under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, Professor Christopher Ogbogbo, as significant and highly commendable.

"Within one year and a few months in office, Professor Ogbogbo has proven to be an agent of development with much to offer this university," he said. "The developmental strides recorded are remarkable and were made possible through the collective efforts of the management team."

He noted that the purpose of the visit was to identify areas of collaboration between IMI and ADUN, adding that both institutions have concluded plans to work together to advance the university.

In his response, Professor Ogbogbo described the partnership as timely, particularly in addressing ADUN’s capacity-building needs in the blue economy.

He said the collaboration would position ADUN as a centre of academic excellence in the blue economy through practical knowledge, research opportunities, and manpower development. 

According to him, manpower support from the partnership will include the engagement of adjunct and visiting scholars and lecturers. He also announced that students of Nautical Architecture will undertake study visits to IMI’s shipbuilding facilities in Lagos and Port Harcourt to gain practical experience beyond classroom learning.

Professor Ogbogbo said his developmental drive is motivated by the desire to place ADUN on the global stage, in line with his vision of making the university globally competitive while retaining local relevance.

The Director General also commended the university’s management team for their support and cooperation with the Vice Chancellor in driving the institution’s growth.
