AKCILS Acting Provost Says Agricultural Development Key to National Security
The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Dr Ali Tamasi Mu'az, has described agriculture as a major driver of national development, stressing that sustainable food production remains crucial to Nigeria's security and economic stability.
Dr Mu'az stated this while delivering a goodwill message at the opening of a three-day capacity-building workshop on the implementation of the Revised Agricultural Education Curriculum, organised by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) at Sa'adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Kano.
According to him, food security and national security are inseparable, making it imperative for tertiary institutions to prioritise research-driven agricultural education that equips students with practical skills to tackle emerging challenges in the sector.
He commended the Kano State Government for its sustained support to AKCILS, particularly in advancing the implementation of agriculture-related academic programmes.
He also commended the Executive Secretary of the NCCE for initiating the workshop, describing it as a timely intervention aimed at strengthening agricultural education and improving the quality of graduates produced by colleges of education across the country.

Dr Mu'az charged participants to translate the knowledge and skills gained from the training into practical solutions capable of addressing persistent challenges in Nigeria's agricultural sector.
The workshop brought together participants from various institutions across the country to strengthen their capacity for effective implementation of the revised curriculum.
