AKCILS Committed to Strengthening Entrepreneurship Directorate for Sustainable Revenue Generation

In line with the National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, recent policy initiative on self-sustainability for Colleges of Education in the country, the Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, AKCILS, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding the scope of the College Entrepreneurship Directorate and investing in it with a view to boosting its revenue generation for institutional sustainability.

Dr. Mu’az made the remarks yesterday while receiving members of the Directorate at the Majidadin Kauran Katsina Conference Hall of the College.

The Acting Provost stated that the time was ripe for the Directorate to have a befitting and fully equipped centre that would sustain its operations and contribute meaningfully to the overall development of the College.

“In compliance with NCCE directives, we are mandated to develop strategic initiatives for efficient revenue generation that will ensure the financial sustainability of our Colleges. AKCILS is determined to take proactive steps in this regard,” Dr. Mu’az affirmed.

He commended the Directorate for its dedication and the numerous initiatives designed to complement the management’s efforts toward achieving the set objectives.

While inspecting some of the products made by students of the Directorate, Dr. Mu’az pledged the College’s support in marketing their products and creating viable market linkages.

“We are patronizing you by purchasing all the products showcased here today in order to encourage your production capacity. I also urge you to price your products competitively so as to attract a wider market,” he advised.

The Acting Provost assured the Directorate of the College’s readiness to invest in the Directorate and also the establishment of a befitting centre and showroom. He directed the Directorate to identify a suitable space within the College for management’s consideration and approval.

Dr. Mu’az described poultry farming as a lucrative venture and pledged to support its development as a source of revenue for the College. He directed the Directorate to collaborate with the Departments of Agriculture and Business Education and engage relevant stakeholders to ensure synergy and optimal results.

Earlier, the Director of Entrepreneurship, Malam Isyaku Yakubu Bichi, briefed the Acting Provost on the successes recorded by the Directorate. He noted that in response to the management’s initiatives, the Directorate had begun forging collaborations and linkages with relevant agencies and institutions.

“Due to your visionary leadership, we have established partnerships with agencies such as the Centre for Dryland Agriculture, Bayero University, Kano. We have secured promising incentives contingent on having our own centre. With the right infrastructure, we are confident of achieving remarkable results,” Bichi stated.

The Directorate showcased a variety of student-made products including shoes, bed sheets, key holders, wall clocks presented in honour of the Provost, shirts, and trousers. All the items were purchased by the Acting Provost in support of the students.
