Alabar Pledges Strong Backing for CEFTER as MOAUM Deepens Research Drive

The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER-MOAUM) in fulfilling its mandate.

Professor Alabar gave the assurance when the management and staff of the Centre paid him a courtesy visit in his office. He described the Centre as a strategic asset to the University, particularly as a World Bank-supported initiative and emphasized the importance of sustaining its momentum in research, innovation and capacity development.

The Vice-Chancellor pledged to undertake a working visit to the Centre to gain firsthand insight into its programmes, milestones and on-going initiatives. He noted that effective management and institutional backing are critical to maximizing the benefits of such internationally supported projects.

Earlier, the Acting Director of the Centre, Professor Ogbene Igbum, who led the delegation, congratulated Professor Alabar on his appointment and prayed for divine wisdom and guidance as he steers the affairs of the University. She briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the governance and administrative framework of the Centre, drawing particular attention to the Board of Governors, which is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Igbum also assured the University helmsman of the Centre’s readiness to align with and support his vision for the growth and transformation of the institution.

In her remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Pricilla Utoo, commended CEFTER for its steady progress and dedication to achieving set targets. She urged the Centre to intensify efforts toward enhancing the market visibility and commercial value of its research outputs and products.

The visit highlighted CEFTER’s resolve to strengthen institutional collaboration and further consolidate its role in advancing research excellence, innovation and sustainable development within the University and beyond.
