Crescent University Sets Stage for Maiden Inaugural Lecture on Nigeria's Economic Trajectory

Crescent Varsity sets stage for maiden Inaugural Lecture Crescent University Abeokuta, Ogun State, will host its first Inaugural Lecture Series on Wednesday, 17th June, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey.

In a release by the Principal Assistant Registrar in charge of Public Relations, Idris Katib, the inaugural lecture will be delivered by Prof. Rasaki Olufemi Kareem,a distinguished Professor of Resource and Development Economics whose topic is "Resource Efficiency vs. Economic Development: Whither Nigeria?".

The choice of theme reflects growing national concern over how Nigeria manages its vast natural and human resources amid persistent development challenges.The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila will chair the academic programme.

The lecture has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. prompt at the Bola Ajibola Auditorium of the university as guests are expected to be seated by 1:30 p.m. For a global reach, the institution has provided a Google Meet link: https://meet.google.com/cnx-iouw-ozi, to allow the town and gown join virtually.Prof. Kareem’s pioneer lecture is expected to interrogate Nigeria’s resource endowments vis-a-vis its economic trajectory.
