Devastating Fire Outbreak Destroys Kano State Polytechnic Main Library

A late-night fire has completely destroyed the main library of the Kano State Polytechnic, located at the School of Management Studies along Yahaya Gusau Road. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, 12 May 2026.

The disaster resulted in the total destruction of thousands of physical books, academic publications, institutional e-library resources, and critical digital equipment, dealing a severe blow to the institution's ongoing research and learning capabilities.

The Rector of the institution, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, visited the scene to assess the damage, describing the event as a monumental loss to the state's academic community.

The Kano State Fire Service Command has cordoned off the affected area and officially launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the inferno. Security personnel and institutional safety teams remain on-site to assist investigators.
