A late-night fire has completely destroyed the main library of the Kano State Polytechnic, located at the School of Management Studies along Yahaya Gusau Road. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, 12 May 2026.

The disaster resulted in the total destruction of thousands of physical books, academic publications, institutional e-library resources, and critical digital equipment, dealing a severe blow to the institution's ongoing research and learning capabilities.

The Rector of the institution, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, visited the scene to assess the damage, describing the event as a monumental loss to the state's academic community.
