UNN Condemns Educational Advocate's Infrastructure Criticism, Alleges Ulterior Motive

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) management has officially condemned recent criticisms by educational advocate Alex Onyia regarding the state of campus infrastructure, alleging the assessment was driven by a hidden agenda.

In an official statement released by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Agha Egwu Inya, the institution claimed that Onyia’s inspection was not a spontaneous observation but a calculated effort. According to the university, Onyia arrived on campus accompanied by a prepared television crew specifically to document deteriorating facilities, focusing heavily on the Eni-Njoku student hostel.

UNN management stated that the media recording contradicted the original, officially approved purpose of Onyia's engagement with the institution.

The criticism focused primarily on the Eni-Njoku hostel, a legacy residential facility on the Nsukka campus.

The university administration characterized the broadcasted report as a selective presentation designed to damage the reputation of the first-generation institution rather than offer constructive feedback.

The university management clarified that while it remains open to objective partnerships for infrastructure development, it will not tolerate unauthorized media campaigns that violate campus access protocols. Further details regarding the official guidelines for external corporate visitors and independent documentary crews are being reviewed by the institution's registry.
