AAU Lecturer Dies in Hotel After Alleged Encounter with Sex Worker

A senior lecturer at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Dr. Matthew Uwuigbe, has reportedly died after an alleged encounter with a 21-year-old commercial sex worker at a hotel in Ekpoma, Edo State.

According to reports, the lecturer checked into the hotel with the woman on Sunday and later asked her to get him water. When she returned, she allegedly found him lying dead in the room.

The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said three people — the hotel owner, manager and the woman — have been arrested as investigations continue.

Uwuigbe's remains have reportedly been deposited at Oriaifo Memorial Hospital mortuary.

The University also confirmed he was a staff member but stressed the incident happened outside the institution and involved his private life.
