Kwara State University (KWASU) marked a major milestone in its community engagement efforts on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, as the Centre for Women Development and Entrepreneurship (CWDE) graduated its first set of trainees from the Malete Centre.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the CWDE Oversight Committee, Professor Mubaraq Sanni, explained that the programme was designed to equip participants with a comprehensive foundation in entrepreneurship. The beneficiaries, who were selected from communities within and around Malete, underwent intensive hands-on vocational and business training aimed at promoting self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

To support the immediate launch of their enterprises, the nine graduates were awarded certificates of completion alongside start-up tools, including tailoring equipment and Android smartphones to aid digital business operations.
