The Federal Government has banned universities from using borrowed lecturers, equipment or other temporary resources to meet requirements during accreditation exercises.
The government said the directive is aimed at ensuring that universities present their actual academic staff, facilities and equipment during accreditation exercises rather than relying on resources temporarily brought in to satisfy regulatory requirements.
The directive is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the quality and credibility of university education and ensure that institutions meet required standards on a sustainable basis.
Under the new approach, universities are expected to have the lecturers, laboratories, equipment and other facilities required for their programmes available as part of their permanent academic resources.
The Federal Government said the measure would help prevent institutions from giving a false impression of their capacity during accreditation exercises and promote higher standards across the Nigerian university system.
