NSUK Flags Off Construction of TETFund-Funded Hostel at Shabu-Lafia Campus

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has flagged off the construction of an ultra-modern student hostel at the University’s Faculty of Agriculture, Shabu-Lafia Campus.

The project represents another step by the University towards improving student welfare and expanding critical infrastructure across its campuses.

Funded under the 2026 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Special Intervention, the project was formally handed over to Messrs Sky Blue Construction Ltd. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Shabu-Lafia Campus.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor at the ceremony, the University Librarian, Dr. Aliyu Abdulkadir, reiterated Professor Liman’s directive that the project must meet the highest standards and be executed strictly in accordance with the approved specifications, Bill of Quantities and contractual timeline.

He said the facility forms part of the administration’s broader commitment to providing students with safe, comfortable and conducive living environments.

“The Vice-Chancellor has explicitly mandated that this project must be executed in strict compliance with the approved Bill of Quantities and contract specifications. We expect top-tier quality delivery within the stipulated timeframe to quickly alleviate the accommodation needs of our students,” he stated.

The Director of the Physical Planning and Development Unit, Engr. Ahmed Liman, presented the technical brief and charged the contractor to maintain strict adherence to the approved design, specifications and work schedule.

Receiving the site documents, Engr. Auwal Garba of Sky Blue Construction Ltd. assured the University Management of the company’s commitment to quality and timely delivery.

He pledged that the firm would deliver a modern facility that would contribute significantly to addressing the accommodation needs of students.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. S. A. Okunsebor, expressed appreciation to Professor Liman, the University Management and TETFund for siting the project at the Shabu-Lafia Campus.

He also assured the University Management of the Faculty’s full cooperation throughout the execution of the project.

The ceremony featured the formal handover of the site plan and physical boundaries to the contractor, followed by a site inspection and group photograph.

The event was attended by Principal Officers, Directors, Heads of Units, Staff Union leaders, members of the Project Monitoring Committee and representatives of the contracting firm.
