Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has gifted N1 million each to 30 graduating students of the Indimi Trust Islamic Centre who successfully memorised the Holy Qur’an under the sponsorship of renowned philanthropist and businessman, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Indimi Mosque along Old Damboa Road in Maiduguri and celebrated about 30 graduates fully sponsored by Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi through the Indimi Islamic Trust.
Governor Zulum directed the release of N1 million to each of the 30 students, totalling N30 million, and N2 million to each of the eight teachers, totalling N16 million.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor commended Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi for his commitment to Islamic scholarship and human capital development.

Dr. Indimi, the founder and chairman of Oriental Energy Resources, has consistently supported education in the North East and across Nigeria. His foundation has championed educational causes, including a recent N2 billion donation to the University of Maiduguri Education Endowment Fund.
In his address, Governor Zulum urged Islamic scholars to preach modestly, emphasising the need for restraint and humility in religious discourse. He charged the Ulamas to focus on teachings that promote peace, unity, and responsible citizenship among the Muslim faithful.
Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting both formal and non-formal education, and stressed the importance of integrating Islamic learning with Western education.
The graduating students, who memorised the entire Holy Qur’an, were presented with certificates at a ceremony attended by dignitaries including the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi; Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno; the Waziri of Borno, Mutawalli Shettima Bukar; and the Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Zannah Laisu Ibrahim.
Several Islamic scholars, senior government officials and members of the business community from across the state also attended the occasion.
