With the approval, FUTIA's total number of NUC-approved programmes has risen to 36, four years after the university commenced its pioneer academic session in 2023/2024.

In a statement issued on behalf of the university, the Registrar, Mrs Offiongita Nkang, advised qualified candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and are interested in the new programmes to visit the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's Central Admissions Processing System (JAMB CAPS) to change their course of choice to one of the newly approved programmes.
Candidates who did not initially select FUTIA as their first-choice institution but scored at least 160 in the 2026 UTME may also apply, provided they change their first-choice institution to FUTIA through JAMB CAPS.
The university said the additional programmes reflect the commitment of its management and Governing Council to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening research, teaching, manpower development and community service through innovative academic offerings.
Meanwhile, FUTIA announced that physical screening for prospective students offered admission was ongoing at the university's premises.
Candidates who selected FUTIA as their first choice were advised to check their admission status through the JAMB portal.
Successful candidates were instructed to accept their admission offers, print their JAMB admission letters and proceed to the university for screening with the relevant documents.
The physical screening exercise is scheduled to run from Monday, October 12, to Friday, October 23, 2026, at the university's Take-off Campus in Ikot Abasi, beginning at 8 a.m. daily.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Leo Daniel, expressed satisfaction with the NUC approval and reaffirmed the university's commitment to creating more educational opportunities for people in the host community, Akwa Ibom State, the South-South region, Nigeria and beyond.

He added that FUTIA would continue to introduce innovative academic programmes aligned with current and emerging educational needs.
