FCE Oyo Holds 9th Biennial National Conference on Special Education

The School of Special Education at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, has commenced its 9th Biennial National Conference and Award Presentation (SSPED 2026). The five-day event is holding at the institution’s Tim Obani Hall from May 11 to May 15, 2026.

The conference runs under the theme: “Global Horizons in Special Education: Advancing Diagnostic Precision and Evidence-Based Intervention.”

The Provost of the College, Dr. Ademola Rauf Salami, represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Benedictus Adebiyi, described the biennial gathering as a historical catalyst for educational reform across Africa.

Corroborating the Provost, the Dean of the School of Special Education, Dr. Gafar Salaudeen, noted that special education has moved to the center of global human rights and sustainable development conversations.

Director of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, highlighted neuroscience and educational technology as drivers for detecting autism, ADHD, and speech disorders.
