Federal Polytechnic Oko has received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to increase its carrying capacity in selected National Diploma (ND) programmes, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.

Federal Polytechnic Oko has received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to increase its carrying capacity in selected National Diploma (ND) programmes, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The affected programmes are ND Science Laboratory Technology, ND Business Administration and Management, and ND Mass Communication. The approval allows the Polytechnic to introduce one additional admission stream for each of the programmes.

The approval was conveyed in an official letter addressed to the Rector of the institution and signed by the Director, Polytechnic and Allied Programmes Department of NBTE, Dr. (Mrs.) Fatima Kabir Umar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board. The decision followed a successful resource inspection exercise conducted by NBTE from 10th to 12th December 2025, after an invitation by the Polytechnic’s management.

The development reflects NBTE’s assessment that Federal Polytechnic Oko has met the required academic, infrastructural, and staffing standards to accommodate increased student intake in the approved programmes.

With the increased carrying capacity, more prospective students will now have the opportunity to secure admission into Federal Polytechnic Oko, strengthening access to quality technical and professional education and reinforcing the institution’s role in manpower development.
