Joel Ogunsola, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) and Founder and President of Tech4Dev, has led the organisation to international recognition after the Women Techsters Initiative emerged as a World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Champions 2026 award winner in the E-Employment category.

The award was presented during the WSIS Prizes 2026 ceremony held in Geneva, Switzerland, where Ogunsola and Tech4Dev's Co-Founder and Executive Director, Diwura Oladepo, received the honour on behalf of the organisation.
The recognition marks a significant milestone for Tech4Dev, which was the only Nigerian organisation to be recognised among the 2026 WSIS Champions, highlighting its contributions to digital inclusion and economic empowerment through technology.
The Women Techsters Initiative has become one of Tech4Dev's flagship programmes, providing women across Africa with digital skills, mentorship, and access to opportunities that promote economic prosperity and career development.
Reacting to the recognition, the organisation described the award as a celebration of every woman who dared to pursue greater opportunities, every mentor who contributed their expertise, and every partner who supported its mission.
The achievement also coincides with Tech4Dev's 10th anniversary, reinforcing the organisation's decade-long commitment to driving digital transformation and creating sustainable impact across Africa.

The global recognition further underscores the growing influence of Nigerian-led technology initiatives in advancing digital skills, innovation, and inclusive economic development on the international stage.
