LASU Disowns Viral ‘Bandits Prank on Lasuites’ Video, Condemns Unauthorised Filming on Campus

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has formally dissociated itself from a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites”, which circulated on social media after being uploaded by Datreez Entertainment TV on Friday, December 5, 2025, at about 9:00 p.m.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, December 7, 2025, the University clarified that it neither approved nor authorised the recording of the video, which showed individuals dressed in a manner that sparked fear and panic as they entered the campus with equipment, causing distress among students.

LASU described the production as unauthorised filming within the University premises and declared the action unacceptable. The institution stressed that it did not endorse the content in any form and distanced itself completely from the activities of the content creators.

The University also condemned any act or material that portrays or suggests banditry, terrorism, or violent extremism. It stated that so-called pranks capable of inciting fear, disrupting campus peace, or undermining the safety of students and staff would not be tolerated, especially in light of prevailing national security concerns.

Reaffirming its commitment to a safe and peaceful academic environment, LASU urged members of the University community to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the LASU Security Unit.

The statement was signed by Mrs. Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi A., Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Lagos State University.
