Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates LASU 13th Governing Council, Charges Members on Excellence and Integrity

The inauguration ceremony, attended by top government functionaries and the management of the University, underscored the state government’s renewed focus on strengthening governance and sustaining academic excellence within the state-owned institution.
In a statement shared via his official Facebook page, Governor Sanwo-Olu described LASU as a critical pillar in shaping the future of young people and advancing Lagos State’s academic standing. He expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly inaugurated Council to provide purposeful leadership, guided by integrity, discipline, and a firm commitment to excellence.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, congratulated the Council members, noting that their appointments were based on proven academic credentials, professional exposure, and leadership experience. He stated that the calibre and composition of the Council positioned LASU to further entrench its culture of academic distinction and institutional growth.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN; the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin; and the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro.
The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, alongside her Deputies, Prof. Oseni Afisi and Prof. Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin, as well as the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu, were also in attendance.
Governor Sanwo-Olu formally congratulated Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, on his appointment as Chairman of the 13th Governing Council, after which other members were sworn in and administered the oath of office.

The newly inaugurated Governing Council is expected to drive key strategic initiatives focused on enhancing academic standards, strengthening research and innovation, and improving student welfare across the University.
