FUTA Students Participate in Nigeria International Energy Summit, Engage Industry Leaders
Students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) participated in the 2026 edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES), Africa’s leading energy investment and policy platform, held in Abuja from February 2 to February 5, 2026.

The summit, themed “Energy for Peace and Prosperity: Securing Our Shared Future,” brought together government officials, regulators and major players across the oil, gas, marine, power and renewable energy sectors to deliberate on the future of Nigeria’s energy industry.
During the four-day event, FUTA students engaged with indigenous and international energy companies spanning upstream and downstream operations, marine and offshore services, financial institutions and energy technology providers. The exposure offered insights into industry innovations, investment trends, career pathways and emerging opportunities across the energy value chain.
A key highlight of the summit was the delegation’s interaction with Honourable Ministers and policymakers in the oil and gas sector. Discussions focused on energy transition strategies, youth inclusion, local content development and the role of academic institutions in driving a sustainable energy future. The conversations underscored the importance of integrating young professionals into national development and policy dialogues.
The student delegation comprised Alalade Omotolani, Makanjuola Aderonke Oluwabusayo, Abimbola Emmanuel Adebayo, Dufale Enoch, Ogundipe Victor Oluwatobiloba, Samuel Ebenezer Adeiza, Arikewuyo Feranmi, Aderibigbe Adetola, Obateru Bright, Ogunsan Oluwajare and Oyawale Stephen.
The delegation was led by Alalade Omotolani Emmanuel, a final-year student of the Department of Marine Science and Technology, School of Earth and Mineral Sciences, whose coordination ensured effective representation of the university throughout the summit.

The participation reinforced FUTA’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates and strengthening its institutional visibility on national and international platforms through strategic engagement and professional excellence.
