The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) officially ushered in the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, February 16, 2026, matriculating 7,529 students during its 38th annual ceremony held at the Suleimanu Kumo Convocation Square.

was the formal induction of the pioneer students of the College of Medicine Sciences and Health Technology. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta described the college’s establishment as a strategic response to Nigeria’s critical shortage of healthcare professionals and medical technologists.

Prof. Kuta underscored the prestige of the admission, noting that only 7,529 students successfully registered out of 12,661 original applicants. He reminded the matriculants that they are joining one of Africa’s premier institutions, citing the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which placed FUTMINNA as:

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the university’s mandate extends beyond academic instruction to character formation. While highlighting the institution’s state-of-the-art laboratories and digital library resources, he issued a stern warning against social vices.

“Examination malpractice, fraud, cultism, and drug abuse will not be tolerated,” Prof. Kuta stated. “Degrees are awarded only to those who excel in both learning and character.”

He encouraged students to utilize the university's robust Information Technology Services and guidance counseling divisions to navigate their academic journey successfully.

The formal proceedings were concluded by the University Registrar, Mr. Danladi Mallam, who administered the matriculation oath, officially conferring student status upon the new intake.
