Godfrey Okoye University Launches Cutting-Edge DNA Forensics Center, Welcomes Governor Peter Mbah

Godfrey Okoye University has officially unveiled a new frontier in forensic science with the opening of the Center for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation (CEDFOCI), DNA Learning Center Nigeria, marking a transformative step for science and security in Southeast Nigeria.

On February 14th, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, visited the facility in a high-profile walking tour that highlighted the center’s operational readiness and strategic importance. The visit underscored a strong partnership between the university and the Enugu State Government, positioning the state as the principal partner in establishing one of the most advanced forensic laboratories in the federation.

The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, led the Governor through the state-of-the-art facility, supported by Mr. Michael Okoro, Deputy Director of the Centre, who provided an in-depth demonstration of the laboratory’s capabilities. The tour showcased technologies for precision DNA analysis, paternity testing, advanced sequencing, and forensic investigations designed to enhance law enforcement, security, and justice delivery across the region.

Governor Mbah witnessed first-hand a system built for accuracy, reliability, and societal impact, reflecting the university’s commitment to aligning academic excellence with practical solutions to regional challenges.
