Godfrey Okoye University has taken a bold step in bridging academia and governance with the inauguration of a high-level committee tasked with reviewing and evaluating the manifesto of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The ceremony, held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room on Thinker’s Corner Campus I, formally constituted the Committee on the Anniversary of the Presentation of the Governor’s Manifesto, reinforcing the university’s commitment to evidence-based policy engagement and societal transformation.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke stressed the responsibility of universities to function not just as centers of learning but as critical think tanks. He emphasized that academic institutions must actively monitor, assess, and provide strategic recommendations that strengthen governance and development outcomes.

The committee’s mandate is comprehensive: to critically review the Governor’s manifesto, liaise with His Excellency on implementation progress, develop a detailed scorecard of achievements against measurable indicators, and evaluate both successes and challenges encountered during execution.

Chaired by Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the committee features an accomplished panel of scholars and administrators, including Prof. Dr. Modesta Egiyi, Prof. Dr. Sergius N. Udeh, Prof. Dr. Lucy Onyekwelu, Prof. Dr. Ekene Osuji, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, Mr. Christopher Uwakwe, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu, and Mrs. Chinyere Anieze, with Dr. Peace Chidi Ike serving as Secretary. Members expressed strong commitment to approaching the task with professionalism, integrity, and scholarly rigor.

The inauguration underscores Godfrey Okoye University’s proactive role in shaping public policy, fostering accountability, and promoting sustainable development, positioning the institution as a pivotal contributor to the governance discourse in Enugu State and beyond.
