The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has announced a ₦2 billion intervention package and donated four buses to Edo State University Iyamho to boost infrastructural development and operational capacity at the institution.

The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has announced a ₦2 billion intervention package and donated four buses to Edo State University Iyamho to boost infrastructural development and operational capacity at the institution.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Ehi-Agenmonmen Business Administration E-Library and the groundbreaking ceremony for a new health centre and ultra-modern fitness facility on the university campus.

As part of the intervention, the governor approved two Toyota Hiace buses and two Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses for the university, describing the gesture as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education infrastructure in the state.

Okpebholo said the support was inspired by the Vice-Chancellor’s personal commitment to institutional development, particularly a donation of his first-month salary towards the construction of the health centre.

Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole commended the initiative, describing it as a continuation of sustained investments in education across the state’s tertiary institutions.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Victor O. Adetimirin, expressed appreciation for the governor’s intervention, noting that increased funding and provision of logistics support would significantly enhance administrative efficiency and academic development. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to becoming a world-class university.

The development forms part of ongoing efforts by the Edo State Government to expand infrastructure and improve learning conditions within the state’s higher education system.
